Narchillan gear was introduced to BDO with patch 3/24/2021. Narchillan gear is comparable to DUO-TRI Blackstar gear and provides the same set bonuses that Blackstar and boss gear provides. Mix and match Narchillan, Blackstar, and boss gear for the same set bonuses. See chart below for details.
A full set of Narchillan gear fills all weapon and armor slots.

Each quest can only be completed once per family.
I can confirm that “Copy Item” from having a tagged character with Narchillan armor, gloves, shoes, and helmet will work. I’m not sure if weapons will copy.

Comparing Narchillan Gear to Blackstar Gear
While the Narchillan Main Hand has a small increase to base AP, AP against monsters, and Accuracy compared to the DUO Blackstar, the TRI Blackstar is the clear winner over the Narchillan. Narchillan is better than DUO Blackstar Main, however, not at the level of TRI Blackstar Main.
Main Weapon Ranking: 4 out of 10
On an improvement scale of 1 to 10, with 1 = DUO Blackstar, and 10 = TRI Blackstar, Narchillan weapons are at the 4 mark, very close to the midway point between DUO and TRI Blackstar Main Weapon.
DUO Blackstar Main Hand
Accuracy: 184

● Extra AP against Monsters +12

Chest Ranking: 3 out of 10
The Narchillan Armor’s improvement over DUO Blackstar Armor is negligible. Compared to the Narchillan weapons, the Narchillan Armors fall lower on the improvement scale, landing somewhere around 3, less than the midway point between DUO and TRI Blackstar Armor.

Comparing Narchillan Sub-weapon to Kutum
Subweapon Ranking: 5 out of 10
In AP, DP, and ‘Extra AP Against Monsters’ item effect, the Narchillan Sub-weapon is right in the middle between TRI Kutum and TET Kutum. For this reason, I would place the Narchillan Sub-weapon at a 5 on the improvement scale of 1-10.

Narchillan Awakening Weapon Comparison
To get a better idea of how Narchillian compares to other yellow grade gear, let’s compare the Narchillan Aad Sphera to several TET Awakening Weapons, including the new-player only Cliff’s Aad Sphera.

As you can see by the graphics above, the Narchillan Aad Sphera is quite good compared to all yellow grade TET Aad Spheras. It is weaker than the TET Blackstar.
How Good is Narchillan Gear?
In conclusion, Narchillan gear is a good place holder until you can obtain TET boss gear and TRI Blackstar gear. It is better than TRI boss gear, DUO Blackstar, and TET Tuvala. Keep in mind, however, that Narchillan gear can’t be enhanced, reformed, or sold.
So it’s a good step to obtaining your boss gear dreams!
The big, big, big, major advantage of Narchillan is the cost of obtaining it. Cheap! Super cheap to get by exchanging Naru Gear.

Use the chart below for a comparison of gear effects.

im not getting the quest, im lvl 56 and have done calpheon questline.
Are you a Season Character? If so, try on a non-season character that meets the requirements.
but question is how to get naru gear? i already graduated and there is no way for me to get naru gears now. no option in fughar
Unfortunately, I think you will have to create a new character and go through the main quest line again. That is what I’m doing with the Sage. Beginner Black Stones do drop from mobs, but I’m not sure of the drop rate. I have never gone to a beginner grind spot for a Beginner Black Stone grind. 🙂 But the stones can be traded to Fughar for Naru Gear. See my Naru Gear guide. I prefer doing the main quest line again. Sounds like more fun to me. Try out a new class.
You can heat black stones ( armor ) ( weapon ) for beginner Black Stones.
Just looked at that guide again. You can melt 3 normal Black Stones to get 1 Beginner Black Stone. That’s a terrible conversion though! LOL!
i have that stones so many. its just the option to exchange in fughar is gone. il try going tru the quest because i did not quest i just speed level my char. i did have the quest to exchange pen naru to narchillan but i just cant get the naru gears from fughar.
you can accept the quest on normal char and switch over to seasonal to complete the quest
Hello 🙂 Keep in mind Season Characters can’t equip Narchillan though.
is it worth to reform pen tuvala weapons with narchillian reform stone?
Hello 🙂 I never did it, but I had lots of boss alts I wanted to gear up and Narchillan works good for that purpose.
can you restore narchillan equipments converted to spirit of first breath?
With a recent patch, you can now restore Narchillan gear. Please see guide changes above for details.
i sold my awkening canon weapon, anyway i can get it back?
You can accept the “[Weekly] Canon Awakening Weapon” quest from Tulem in Altinova.
This quest requires you to have completed your class Awakening questline and be proceeding with the “[Special Aid] Narchillan’s Powerful Awakening Weapon” quest on a non-season character.
I can’t get this starting quest with sage or my other here both are over 56 completed the calphion quest line still no fugars letter quest. I’m stuck and funded 3 days straight about to pull my hair out wasted days of upgrading naru gear for nothing
Hello 🙂 Did you speak to Black Spirit to obtain the quest titled, “[Special Aid] Fughar’s Letter“? That is the first step, if you have obtained level 56. If the quest isn’t there, I would open up a support ticket. Don’t rage quit just yet!!!
Just went through my screenshots and noticed it’s under Event tab in the Black Spirit quest window. (They will probably move this though in the future.)
Do I have to sacriface the itemlost i want the upgrade to be?
or can i Sacrifice the boots for a Tuvala gloves enchant?
Hello 🙂 Naru to Narchillan has to be the same gear type, boots for boots, gloves for gloves, etc.
For Tuvala upgrade, you can sacrifice any piece, which will give you a Spirit’s First Breath by using Processing (L) > Heating on 1 piece of Narchillan gear (regardless of type). Then you take it to the NPC to get a Combantant Stone.
Can you copy narchillan gear to a tagged character?
I can confirm that you can use “Copy Item” from having a tagged character on the Narchillan armor, gloves, shoes, and helmet. I haven’t decided on which class I want my Narchillan weapon, so I can’t say for sure on the weapons.
Can I copy narchillan main sub and awakening weapon to a tagged character?
Like your guides. What is the next beyond Narchillan awakening weapon, or in general Narchillan items?
Hello! 🙂 Wonderful news for you today! You have several options! 🙂 The end goal is boss gear, but you can use quested gear or Contribution (Nesser) gear until then. Get more details:

Is this only for PC? I play on PS5.
Sorry I don’t play on console, so I can’t confirm this at all.
can i convert them back to boxes for alts or is it a 1 time deal only?
Since patch 2-16-22, you can change your class and still use your Narchillan Weapons.
so I have a ton of beginner stones on my season character, I want to get narchillan for a different character. the stones are bound to character, and the naru gear is as well, but the narchillan isn’t. SO is it possible to use my season character to get the naru gear, upgrade it and turn it in for the narchillan and then just move the narchillan to a different character? Anyone done this successfully and how?
Hello 🙂 Season Characters can’t equip Narchillan gear, but you can transfer it to a storage keeper for another character to equip. So, if you try this, know your Season Character may lose their ability to fight unless you have enough Beginner or Time-Filled Black Stones to make a new set of Gear, or until the Season Character graduates and can equip the Narchillan. As a Season Character, you can exchange your Naru for PRI Tuvala, which is the best option for new players, because you can’t use Narchillan to exchange for Guaranteed PEN boss gear. However, you can upgrade… Read more »
I don’t think you answered his question. He is asking how to convert naru gear to narchillan gear when the naru gear and beginner stones are character bound. Also, you can’t accept the questline to exchange the naru gear to narchillan gear with a seasonal character.
Hello 🙂 Thanks, I didn’t realize I didn’t actually answer the question. I was pushing my agenda! Haha. Well, you can in a round about way. Keep all your Beginner Naru stones and gear on the Season Character until they graduate. Then, after they graduate, they are a normal character that can do the Narchillan exchange quests and wear the gear. But I don’t know if it’s possible to get enough stones to make 1 PEN set for Tuvala exchange and 1 PEN set for Narchillan exchange. Have fun this Season. 🙂
Hi and thanks a lot for this post its quite helpfull! <3 i was wondering can someone restore his deleted narchilian gear? i basicly did the heating thingy on my both weapons and ended up selling the reform stones back then cause didnt know what to do with them , is there any way to get them back?
For restoring deleted Narchillan gear from a long time ago, I think you may be able to open a support ticket. But there are pretty strict limits on restoring deleted items. Sorry!
Hi! So I deleted my narchilian weapons, is there a way to get it back?
Unfortunately, there is no way to do that at this time, unless you involve customer support.
Hello 👋
thank you for detailed guides and posts, it helps a lot!
My major question is:
I have a non season character with the Narchillan quest but no naru or beginner stones. My second character is a season character with naru PEN. Is it possible, that I can exchange to narchillan Gear after graduation? Or use the naru on my not-season character after graduation and exchange naru to narchillan with him?
Second question is: Can I exchange and how all the converted Tuvala gear to boss gear after graduation?
I’m a bit confused 🙂
Thanks a lot in advance!
Hello 🙂 Yes, but you will need to drop the Narchillan quests on your normal character, before you can pick them up on a different character. You can save your PEN Naru gear on your Season character and then used it later after graduation to exchange it for Narchillan. See this guide: https://grumpygreen.cricket/exchange-naru/ IMPORTANT!!! >>>> If you plan to do this, make sure you have enough to make TWO sets of PEN Naru Gear, because your priority should be exchanging the Naru into Tuvala. Make sure you exchange Naru for Tuvala first during Season!!! Because Narchillan can NOT be exchanged… Read more »
Thank you very much! Ok, on my “normal” character I have the Narchillan Quest. When season ends I can exchange the Naru gear with the season character then, right?
I copied the season character so I have Tuvalu PEN already and now naru pen also. So I’m good prepared.
Your guides are great! Love it!
Hello 🙂 Naru and its stones are bound to character. You can’t even put them in storage. The person that you have accepted the Narchillan quest on will need to forfeit the quest in order for you to complete them on a different character. (your graduated Season character) Narchillan quests and related gear are only once per family. It looks like you have both a PEN Tuvala set and a PEN Naru set, so you are good to go!
not sure if u update stuff here but starting quest is no long in “Event” its under Suggested https://imgur.com/7adae8X
Hello 🙂 Thanks for the image and info! I updated the guide with it.
Do you know of a way I can get a narchillan shuriken for Kunoichi? Its kind of a general question regarding the secondary subweapon option for any classes that have 2. Like during story leveling I couldn’t get a naru shuriken, only a kunai. And now that I have narchillan gear it seems there’s no way to get an “other sub-weapon box”. I’m hoping there’s some simple fix for this. I dont want to have to buy a 1.6bil tet kutum shuriken just to occasionally have fun with low level mobs.
Good question, but I couldn’t find any info on that. 🙁
Thanks for the quick reply. Wanted to mention I got an interesting answer back from support. They said not really…but if you’re seriously committed to getting a “non-market-shuriken” you can wait for next season (which officially hasn’t been announced), create a ninja seasonal character, and do the whole tuvala season process/graduate then use the pen tuvala shuriken on kunoichi. I ended up buying a tet kutum, probably a waste of silver but I see it as an investment in fun. Thanks for an informative and amazing black desert resource. 😉
Hello 🙂 Thanks for sharing the info! I can think of many other worse ways to spend silver. 😛
Hopefully you’re still around. I’m super new and just been coasting on the MSQ. I’ve upgraded most of my Naru gear to +15 and my weapon to Duo(im lvl51). I could get all to Duo/tri at least by now but I’m curious. Am I suppose to just keep taking durability losses on it or do I need to start using enhancement protection? I don’t have much in the way of protection since I’m new so I could really only protect a few peices. Since naru gear is “beginner” gear I wasn’t sure if it’s worth “wasting” items that increase my… Read more »
Hello 🙂 I advise try to not use extra materials when upgrading Naru. They are really generous with Blackstones and I’ve never had an issue with upgrading Naru to PEN and not having enough Blackstones. However, make sure you do the armor and weapons first before accessories just to be safe. Also, TET to PEN can be tricky, so I have used helps in the past for that, because enhancement for me feels more frustrating than fun and I’m quick to use helps, but I probably didn’t need to. But I also have an old account with a large surplus… Read more »
i got problem i already clear serindia main quest im still missing 1 item and awakening weapon ? where i can get it ???
Hello 🙂 Which item are you missing? If you are level 56, you can do your Awakening quest line, which will give you your Awakening Weapon. See Awakening Guide here: https://grumpygreen.cricket/bdo-skills/
Thank you for this guide. I leveled a character to 56, about a year ago and stopped playing. I did not do all the season stuff so I was lost. I was like how do I upgrade to decent gear without having to start over on a toon. Especially when I had trouble getting in the new season server. I had made several characters to try out different classes back then and when I came back I loved tamer and missed around and leveled it to 57 on the normal server. I asked discord and a gm and everyone told… Read more »
