The <Enchanting> Rainbow Fox is a rare wild animal you can hunt with a matchlock. It can be found in SE of Calpheon, NW of Marni Cave Path, and south of Oberen Farm. It spawns in fairly safe areas with other low level rainbow foxes and kuku birds.

Rare hunting mobs are difficult to find, but drop an unusual amount of loot from butchering them. Respawn is randomly between 12 and 24 hours. The map below shows potential spawn locations.

Rainbow Fox Hunting Mechanics

Rainbow fox can be found day or night. When approaching spawn locations, you’ll see a glowing yellow ball of energy. Run up to the ball, and it disappears, reappearing a second later a few feet away. Find the glowing ball 1-4 times until the <Enchanting> Rainbow Fox spawns.  Once it spawns, the glowing Rainbow Fox will run up to you then run away.

 

The Un-rainbow fox will not attack, but will continue to run as you shoot it. Please Note: you may need to adjust your graphics to medium or better to see the glowing yellow ball. When tested on low graphics, there was only a warping effect without color. It could have just been bad graphics card though!

Rainbow Fox Knowledge and Titles

The first time you kill the <Enchanting> Rainbow Fox, you will gain knowledge under the category: Ecology > Rare Hunting Guide.

Completion of this category will allow you to obtain the Rare Hunting Guide from Lacy which then allows you to exchange energy for Manor Olvian Furniture designs.

You also have a chance to obtain 3 different titles while killing Rainbow Fox:

– Nothing If Not Quick-witted
– Great Detective
– ROYGBIV

<Enchanting> Rainbow Fox

Butchering Rainbow Fox yields Fox Meat, Hard and Sharp Black Crystal Shards, Spirit Pouch of Ferocious Beast, and Energy-exuding Hide which is used to craft Manor Olvian Furniture. Hunting mastery makes a difference in the amount of each loot type and gives you the chance to obtain rare hunting loot like Sharp Tooth and Supreme Hide. Low mastery can still proc high mastery loot rarely as a crit.
