The <Moon-Eclipsed> Shadow Black Leopard is a rare wild animal you can hunt with a matchlock. It can be found in Kamasylvia, north and west of Grana. Its spawn locations are a mix of friendly and hostile areas with level 58+ mobs.
Rare hunting mobs are difficult to find, but drop an unusual amount of loot from butchering them. Respawn is randomly between 12 and 24 hours. The map below shows potential spawn locations.
Shadow Leopard Hunting Mechanics
The Shadow Black Leopard may be invisible when you approach its spawn location, but you will still be able to see it as a <Wild> Icon on your minimap even if he is hiding in the shadows. There will also be an announcement at the top of the screen when you get close enough. You do not need to lure the Leopard under the moonlight like the message claims, though the moonlight does “seem” to stop him from going invisible as often. He disappears and reappears randomly during the fight, but you can still shoot him even when he’s invisible as long as your crosshairs are red. Like the Moonlit Alligator, the Shadow Leopard has a sonic roar and melee attacks. You can also find him day or night; time of day does not matter.Â
Shadow Leopard Knowledge and Titles
The first time you kill the Shadow Leopard, you will gain knowledge under the category: Ecology > Rare Hunting Guide.
Completion of this category will allow you to obtain the Rare Hunting Guide from Lacy which then allows you to exchange energy for Manor Olvian Furniture designs.
You also have a chance to obtain 3 different titles while killing the <Moon-Eclipsed> Black Shadow Leopard:
– Chaser of Darkness
– Moonlight in the Dark
– Hunter of Darkness
– Vanquisher of Darkness (Sourced from patch notes, but might be an error.)
<Moon-Eclipsed> Black Shadow Leopard Loot
Butchering the Moonlit Alligator yields Black Leopard Hide, Hard and Sharp Black Crystal Shards, Spirit Pouch of Ferocious Beast, and Energy-exuding Hide which is used to craft Manor Olvian Furniture. Hunting mastery makes a difference in the amount of each loot type and gives you the chance to obtain rare hunting loot like Sharp Tooth and Supreme Hide. Low mastery can still proc high mastery loot rarely as a crit.
A picture of the chat window was taken to show the loot obtained by butchering the Black Leopard. Please see pics below for examples of loot obtained with low mastery and low mastery crit.
