Black Desert Online introduced the new Frenzy Draught with their Underwater Ruins Expansion on 5-22-19 on NA servers.

Recipe Directions:

Use Simple Alchemy in the Processing window (L) to combine Abyssal Essence x1, Elixir of Demihuman Hunt x3, Elixir of Frenzy x3, Tears of the Falling Moon x1 into Frenzy Draught.

※ Higher-grade versions of the same elixir can be used as a substitute at a 1:3 ratio.

Frenzy Draught vs. Giant’s Draught

Which Combat Potion is Best?
Frenzy Draught is a very powerful combat potion and comparable to Beast’s Draught. Many players report that Frenzy Draught does more damage than Beast’s Draught. They have also said that Frenzy Draught makes them not have to heal because of the HP recovery buff.

Frenzy Draught Pros:

• Highest AP of all Draughts
• Highest Accuracy of all Draughts
• Buffs Critical Damage, the most common Special Attack damage type

Frenzy Draught Cons:

• Critical Strike damage increase doesn’t include other Special Damage. (Back Attack, Down Attack, Air Attack)
• Lowers DP by 15 points. Ouch! Hopefully, all dies before it gets a chance to hit you. 🙂
• Only defense buff is the +200 Stamina.

Frenzy Draught with Potion Stacking

Frenzy Draught is a potion that can’t be stacked with most other elixirs or potions. But you can still use the following potions with it:

Frenzy Draught + Elixir of the Deep Sea
Elixir of the Deep Sea would be an awesome compliment to Frenzy Draught. It fills in the Special Attack Damage vacancy. Good luck finding it on Central Market though! It takes a very rare drop, Coral Crystal, from gathering hard to find Green, Blue, and Rounded Purple Coral.

Frenzy Draught + Perfume of Courage
Next best potion to use with Frenzy Draught is Perfume of Courage, which gives a nice 20 AP. Both potions would give you a massive +40 AP.

Tears of the Falling Moon

Tears of the Falling Moon can only be purchased at an <Old Moon Manager> NPC. They cost 100,000 Silver each. You need 1 per Frenzy Draught recipe.

Abyssal Essence

– Abyssal Essence is a rare drop from killing mobs and doing quests in Protty Cave and Sycraia Ruins. These locations offer daily quests that will reward you with a total of 6 Abyssal Essence every server reset. You cannot obtain Abyssal Essence via Central Market.

One Abyssal Essence is required for each Frenzy Draught.

Daily Underwater Ruins Quests for Abyssal Essence

Start two daily quest chains after every server reset. Several of the quests can be picked up and done at the same time. Some are chained. Find Dustin, the <Blacksmith> on Weita Island, and Lynelman, the <Blacksmith> inside Sycraia Upper Zone.

Requires Calpheon Main story line completion and levels 58 to 61.

Details about Calpheon Main Story:

The Underwater Daily quest series requires you to complete the main quest line leading up to and including all of the Calpheon story. Press O key then Main tab.

For my archer, Calpheon main story includes “Disappearance of Nella” and “The Qualities of a God”

Older characters, before the quest reworks, will see “Beginning of a Journey”, showing 193 total quests.

Grinding in Protty Cave for Abyssal Essence

The difficulty of Protty Cave has been compared to that of Crescent Shrine in Valenica

It is a winding cave system with many levels.

There are NPCs located just inside to repair armor, sell, and buy potions.

Protty Cave Requirements

• Minimum AP: 170
• Minimum DP: 230
• One-Hit AP: 250
• Recommended DP: 250
• Character Level: Monster levels are 59 and 60 (Players below these levels may experience higher monster evasion/damage.)

The game’s recommended AP for Protty Cave is 170. However, this is more like a minimum recommendation. You may get frustrated grinding here at that AP level because the mobs will not die in one hit.

Characters can come here lower than levels 59 and 60, especially if they have high gear scores.

Grinding in Sycraia for Abyssal Essence

Sycraia Underwater Ruins is deep underwater and protected by a semi-invisible dome barrier. The trick is finding one of four entrances through the barrier and into the grinding area.

The center of the grinding area has a huge circular stone structure that is easy to spot from far away.

Once you swim through one of four stone entrances, you immediately stop swimming and can breathe and fight normally.

Sycraia Underwater Ruins Requirements

• Minimum AP: 250
• Minimum DP: 280
• One-Hit AP: not possible
• Recommended DP: as much as you can get! 🙂
• Character Level: Monster levels are mostly 60 (Players below these levels may experience higher monster evasion/damage.)

The game’s recommended AP for Sycraia Underwater Ruins is 230. However, this is a low recommendation. You may get frustrated grinding here at that AP level because the mobs will die slowly.
