Major Update: Grándiha & Papua Crinea

The islands of Grándiha and Papua Crinea were designed to seem a bit more peaceful compared to the mainland. We hope you can enjoy them as island retreats, since in your character’s original form there’s not much to do on the island of Papua Crinea. This could be perfect for the adventurer worn out from battle and amassing wealth.

However, there are still many secrets that lay dormant within the island of Papua Crinea. If you transform into one of the locals, you can experience content never seen before. If you choose to do so, it would be wise to gain the trust of the islanders for the countless adventures that lay ahead!

  • The islands of Grándiha and Papua Crinea have been added.

    • Lakiaros do not grow at Papua Crinea.

Grándiha, which used to serve as the port of Grána, was abandoned after the Ahibs fled to O’dyllita but have recently been reopened. Grándiha provides a convenient departure point for Papua Crinea, the island of the warring Papus and Otters.

Papua Crinea is located off the western coast of Kamasylvia. You can easily reach it by sailing north from Grándiha.

The Papus and Otters of Papua Crinea have been fighting each other for generations in the Thousand Year War. If you choose to fight for the Papus, you will be able to befriend Empress Papuraora but will alienate the Otters. Conversely, if you choose to fight for the Otters, you will get close to General Crioniak but get on bad terms with the Papus.

If your amity with Empress Papuraora or General Crioniak falls below -2500, you will not be able to talk with the Papus or Otters on Papua Crinea (depending on which authority figure you are on bad terms with), even if you are transformed into one of them. For example, if you have low amity with Empress Papuraora, even if you are transformed into a Papu you won’t be able to converse with other Papus.

Unlike the Papus and Otters you may have encountered on the main continent, those on Papua Crinea were so isolated from the mainland that they do not know how to communicate with you in your language.

To infiltrate the Papus or the Otters, you need to transform yourself into one of them. The secret to doing this is guarded by the Lamute Gang.

  • Added quests for Papua Crinea.

    • To start on your new adventure, accept the quest [Papua Crinea] An Amazing Gift Just for You from the Black Spirit with a character that is at least Lv. 58.

    • Papua Crinea quests can be found in the Quest (O) window → Suggested tab → [Great Expedition] Papua Crinea.

  • You can transform into Otters and Papus with the help of the Darkcloud Shapeshifting Dictionary from the Lamute Gang.

    • Each Papu and Otter type has different skill sets, which can be seen at the bottom right once you transform into them.

    • Transformation scrolls can only be used in certain places where you cannot be seen by Otters or Papus. Right click a scroll at a designated location to transform.

    • Because the Lamute Gang’s Darkcloud Shapeshifting Dictionary is still a work in progress, you cannot jump or move backward while you are transformed. Also, swimming will automatically undo your transformation.

  • Added quests to train against different stoneback crabs while you are disguised as a Papu or an Otter.

    • Completing these quests will give you transformation scrolls you can use for 1 day.

  • Added the following new creatures for Papua Crinea. These two monsters don’t attack you first and are well disguised, which makes it hard to find them. You cannot attack them with a normal character. Only a Papu or an Otter will be able to.

    • Lazy Rock Spirit

    • Lazy Cloudy Rain Mushroom

  • Added the following 3 new coins. You can exchange these coins for various items.

    • Lamute Gang’s Benns Coin

      • This coin can be obtained with Grándiha’s daily quests. Lamute Gang’s Benns Coin x1 can be exchanged for Rainbow Petal Coin x1 or Rainbow Fish Bone Coin x1 via Benns Lamute.

    • Rainbow Petal Coin

      • Coin used by the Papus. It can be obtained by completing the Papuraora Island quests.

    • Rainbow Fish Bone Coin

      • Coin used by the Otters. It can be obtained by completing the Crioniak Island quests.

  • Added new following titles, which can be received by completing certain quests at Papua Crinea.

    • Generic title

      • Lamute Gang

    • Papu titles

      • Papus are Tricksters

      • The Golden Age of the Papunini

      • Pa! Then stab! Pu! Then withdraw!

      • Victorious Fruit Soldier

    • Otter titles

      • Dizzy Whizzy

      • Hakuna M’Otters

      • Otter Military Cadet

      • Otter Soldier

  • Added new knowledge entries and trade items for Grándiha and Papua Crinea.

  • Opened up sea routes through Serni Sea and Elsana Sea.

  • Added currents to Serni Sea and Elsana Sea.

    • The currents there can go up to 20 on our currents scale.

  • Added the item Ship License: Epheria Cog (Lamute Gang’s Special Cog).

    • You can get this ship license by completing the quest [Papua Crinea] Lamute Gang, then talking to NPC Benns Ruberen at the wharf of Grándiha.

    • The stats of the ship are the same as that of the Epheria Cog.

The Thousand Year War between the Papus and Otters reached a pivotal point, and they are battling every day.

Adventurers who have completed the Papua Crinea quests and received the transformation scrolls to turn into Papus or Otters can keep gaining amity with the Papus or Otters and join them in the battlefield. When a battle breaks out, an alert will be seen throughout the server. If you want to participate go to Papua Crinea, then transform into your Papu or Otter form and volunteer for your side in the fight for pride and glory!

  • The Thousand Year War between the Papus and Otters of Papua Crinea seems to have rekindled.

    • Every day, the Papus and Otters will battle it out on Bloodshed Beach, in three random servers.

    • If you are in one of these servers when the battle breaks out, an alert message will appear on your screen.

    • Transform into a Papu and Otter and join in the fight! The battle should last around 20 minutes.

    • You can exchange your loot from the battle for Rainbow Fish Bone Coin or Rainbow Petal Coin.

  • For more details, refer to our guide on Papua Crinea <Here>.

Papu or Otter?

Period: June 24 (after maintenance)–July 6 (23:59 UTC)

Pa! Pu! Queek!

Collect coins from Kitma the Papu or Natuo the Otter on a daily basis to spend after the event ends.

Kitma the Papu will give out [Event] Golden Petal Coin and Natuo the Otter will give out [Event] Golden Fish Bone Coin. If there are more coins of one type circulating, then the value of that coin will fall. On the other hand, the rarer coin will rise in value.

The value of these two coins will freeze at the end of the event, so keep an eye on the chart below to see which coin you want to invest in!

After the Event Ends

  • You can exchange [Event] Golden Petal Coin and [Event] Golden Fish Bone Coin items with NPCs Benitu and Jabuo based on the result of the event after the event period ends.
  • However, if more coins of a race were earned by adventurers, thus having a higher ratio, the value of those coins will fall, while the coins of the race with fewer numbers will have a higher value. This means you will be able to exchange items with fewer event coins if the coins you have are the coins obtained by fewer number of adventurers.
  • In other words, the race with fewer coins gets the discount! Choose wisely which side to help every day!

As you can see the result shown on the ratio table, less [Event] Golden Fish Bone Coins were earned, and more [Event] Golden Petal Coins were earned by adventures. Check the table below to see how many coins you need to exchange for each reward.

Welcome to Papua Crinea

Source: 24 June 2020 News Page

A war has been waging for a thousand years between two races on an uncharted island at the corner of the world.

Don’t let their cuddly appearances fool you.

Papus and Otters have been at war with each other for a very long time

and now you can visit their island to see for yourself what they are fighting for.

In Papua Crinea, you must follow specific rules to progress through the quests, obtain knowledge, and interact with the inhabitants. Read along to learn everything you need to enjoy Papua Crinea!

[Papua Crinea] Quest Guide

To begin your adventure to Grándiha and Papua Crinea, you must first become a member of the Lamute Gang.

When you reach level 58, accept the quest “[Papua Crinea] An Amazing Gift Just for You” to begin the adventure with the Lamute Gang.

The Papua Crinea quests are linked to the Adventure Journal and can be found under Quest > Suggested tab.

Once you complete the “[Papua Crinea] An Amazing Gift Just for You” quest, the Lamute Gang’s Adventure Journal, consisting 5 parts, will be unlocked.

The Adventure Journal is divided into Grándiha, Papu, and Otter chapters. As you complete the chapters in order, you will be rewarded transformation scrolls for either Papus or Otters.

The condition to get the “[Papua Crinea] Lamute Gang” quest is to complete the Lamute Gang’s Adventure Journal 1, so you must complete the Adventure Journal to continue with the Papua Crinea quest line.

You can check the Papua Crinea quest line via Quest (O) → Suggested tab → [The Great Expedition] Papua Crinea.

Remember to press the complete button after completing every chapter to continue with the Adventure Journal.

Reading the journal and talking to corresponding NPCs should give you the answers you need to complete them.

After completing the first book of the Lamute Gang’s Adventure Journal, you will be guided to “an island without a barterer”.

A message welcomes you on your arrival.

This island is a neutral zone, where neither Papu nor Otter can take!

This must’ve been written by the barterer guru. Someone is tired of them fighting all the time.

Now let’s head over to the group of Papus and talk to them.

In Papua Crinea, you must transform into either an Otter or Papu to interact, obtain knowledge, and do quests. If not, you won’t be able to even talk to them.

Progressing through the Papua Crinea quest will reward you with a 1 day use transformation scroll.

Here is an example of transformation after using the Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll.

And this is when you use the Queekity Thumpity Moon Villager Transformation Scroll.

After completing the second book of the Lamute Gang’s Adventure Journal, you will be rewarded with a permanent use Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll.

Here’s the difference between the scrolls you’ve received thus far.

Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll

Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll

Lasts for 1 day and cannot be used after a day of use. Note that there is no expiration for Panipani Villager Transformation Scrolls sold at shops.

You can use this without an expiration period.

Unable to attack after use Can attack after use

Transform into a Brave Pine Blader to be able to attack.

Transformation Scrolls

As you can see, transformation scrolls are necessities to survive in Papua Crinea.

Papus and Otters are at war with each other, so they do not trust outsiders.

So they will only speak in their own languages if you approach them without transforming.

Now, here’s how to use these transformation scrolls.

Lamute Gang’s Darkcloud Shapeshifting Dictionary

You can transform into the following Otters and Papus with the help of the Darkcloud Shapeshifting Dictionary from the Lamute Gang.

Papu Otter
Panipani Villager Queekity Thumpity Moon Villager
Brave Pine Blader Gallant Conch Blader
Immortal Persimmon Knight Undefeated Crab Knight
Holy Date Priest Holy Sea Cucumber Priest
Dreamy Bubble Shaman Ruinous Puffer Shaman
Frosty Chestnut Slinger Fierce Lobster Boxer

● There are both 1 day and permanent versions of transformation scrolls.

○ You can get permanent transformation scrolls of the following through the quest line.

■ Brave Pine Blader, Gallant Conch Blader

■ Immortal Persimmon Knight, Undefeated Crab Knight

● If you lose the permanent transformation scrolls for the above Papus and Otters, you can go to NPC Benns Moanna or Benns Morio (depending on the species you want to transform into) and pay them two Benns Coins. This only works if you have already received the scrolls via the relevant Adventure Log quests and need a replacement.

● 1 day use transformation scrolls can be obtained as rewards from [For the Thousand Year War] raid quests during [Papua Crinea] quest progression.

● Panipani Villager and Queekity Thumpity Moon Villager transformation scrolls can be purchased from Benns Moanna and Benns Morio at 100,000 Silver each after completing the quests “[Papua Crinea] Moanna, Papu’s Friend” and “[Papua Crinea] Morio, Otter’s Friend”.

● To talk to NPCs, obtain knowledge, and progress quests on both Papuraora Island and Crioniak Island, you must be transformed into one of the 6 types of Otter or Papu mentioned above.

● Each Papu and Otter types have different skill sets, which can be seen at the bottom right once you transform into them.

● Transformation scrolls can only be used in certain places where you cannot be seen by Otters or Papus. Right click a scroll at a designated location to transform.

● Heading over to the opposing island will result in you getting attacked by guards and canceling the transformation. And you cannot talk to opposing island NPCs.

How to get Transformation Scrolls

Transformation Scrolls can be obtained from quests.

Below is an example from the Otter’s point of view.

Once you complete the “[Papua Crinea] Morio, Otter’s Friend” quest, you will be rewarded a Queekity Thumpity Moon Villager Transformation Scroll (1 Day). If the scroll is depleted or you lost it for some reason, you can always visit Benns Morio to purchase it again. The one sold in the shop is for permanent use.

How to use Transformation Scrolls

1. Right clicking on a transformation scroll will show you a spot where you can transform with a pillar of light.
2. Use the scroll and press R to transform into the summoned Otter or Papu.
3. Going to the Papu island as an Otter or vice versa will result in you being attacked by guards and transformation will be lifted.

4. Some actions, such as summoning the Black Spirit or fishing, will be limited while you are transformed.

Limitations are similar to those when you are riding a horse.

As in, you cannot fish or call the Black Spirit while on a horse, but you can talk to NPCs.

So, if you need to talk to the Black Spirit, press Shift + R to end transformation.

Lamute Gang’s Special Cog

During the Papua Crinea quest line, you will be able to receive a Lamute Gang’s Special Cog in Grándiha.

You can get the ship license for it by completing the quest [Papua Crinea] Lamute Gang, then talking to NPC Benns Ruberen at the wharf of Grándiha.

The stats of this ship are the same as that of the Epheria Cog.

For the Thousand Year War Quests

The Papus and Otters of Papua Crinea have been fighting each other for generations in the Thousand Year War.

If you choose to fight for the Papus, you will be able to befriend Empress Papuraora but will alienate the Otters. Conversely, if you choose to fight for the Otters, you will get close to General Crioniak but get on bad terms with the Papus.

If your amity with Empress Papuraora or General Crioniak falls below -2500, you will not be able to talk with Papus or Otters (depending on which authority figure you are on bad terms with), even if you are transformed into one of them.

You can receive the [For the Thousand Year War] Stoneback Crab Training raid quests from Benns Moanna (Papu) or Benns Morio (Otter) at Bloodshed Beach for 5 days (1 quest per day) as you progress through the [Papua Crinea] quests.

[For the Thousand Year War] Stoneback Crab Training raid quests consist of the following.

For the Thousand Year War Quests
Day Type of Stoneback Crab Type of Papu Transformation Scroll (1 Day) Type of Otter Transformation Scroll (1 Day)
Day 1 Dumb Stoneback Crab Brave Pine Blader Gallant Conch Blader
Day 2 Mediocre Stoneback Crab Immortal Persimmon Knight Undefeated Crab Knight
Day 3 Intelligent Stoneback Crab Holy Date Priest Holy Sea Cucumber Priest
Day 4 Extraordinary Stoneback Crab Dreamy Bubble Shaman Ruinous Puffer Shaman
Day 5 Bloodthirsty Stoneback Crab Frosty Chestnut Slinger Fierce Lobster Boxer
  • You can receive the transformation scroll (1 Day) by talking to Benns Moanna or Benns Morio at Bloodshed Beach as you progress through each quest. The number of the transformation scroll (1 Day) will increase as the Stoneback Crab quest’s difficulty increases.
    • For example, on your 3rd day, you can receive 3 transformation scrolls from the NPC: Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll (1 Day), Immortal Persimmon Knight Transformation Scroll (1 Day), and Holy Date Priest Transformation Scroll (1 Day).
  • You cannot accept the [For the Thousand Year War] Stoneback Crab Training raid quests for Papu and Otter at the same time. If you have already accepted the quest for one of the two, you need to either complete or forfeit it before you can accept the other.
  • You will obtain 5 types of Papu/Otter Soldier Titles after completing the Papu/Otter raid quests.
  • Create a party with adventurers who share the same goal! Transform into a Papu or an Otter Soldier and make different strategies based on each soldier’s unique skills.
  • You cannot attack a trainable Stoneback Crab with a normal character, so you must transform into a Papu or an Otter in order to defeat it.
  • Go to [Lv. 58] Grándiha & Papua Crinea under the Recurring tab in the Quest (0) window for Grándiha and Papua Crinea daily quests.

Though there are some adventure logs which can be done regardless of order, for Lamute Gang Adventure Log, there are chapters which can be done only after having completed the previous chapter. So don’t forget to progress through it in order!

2. The answer is there.

What am I supposed to take to the NPC?! What does the NPC want?! Whenever you are stuck, read through the Adventure Log or your conversation with the NPC. The answer is there.
