Gathering Mastery became part of BDO in a Life Mastery patch on 9-4-2019. This is an added boost for players who have spent hours leveling the Gathering Life Skill.

Gathering Mastery Buffs Chart

Gathering Mastery starts early on with unnoticeable benefits, but increases every 50 levels.

Gathering Mastery can greatly increase common materials obtained, but also has effect on rare and special items.

Gathering Resource Categories:

Basic Resource: white grade gathered resources like hide, timber, sap, ore, blood, herbs, etc.
Special Resource: low drop chance items like Trace of Nature, Old Tree Bark, Laila’s Petal, Deep Blue Hoof Root, Fire Horn, Fairy Powder, Fruit of Nature, and Powder of Ascension.
Rare Resource: enhancement materials like Caphras Stone, Sharp Shards, Ancient Spirit Dust, and Black Gems or Black Gem Fragments.
Event Resource: a rare event occurs and the ground changes to alert you. Starlight Veins or Buried Trace appear depending upon Gathering Mastery level.

Gathering Mastery with Hedgehog

Gathering Mastery is seperate from Hedgehog’s extra gather. Players with high Gathering Mastery report getting procs of 4, 6, 9, or 12 blood with an additional Hedgehog proc of 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Don’t swich to Gathering Mastery Tools until you have greater than 650 Mastery.

Life Mastery Gear Enhancement

Life Mastery clothes and accessories can be improved by enhancement, using Black Gems crafted from Black Gem Fragments.

Life Mastery gear can be upgraded to PEN (V).
Enhancement levels increase the Life Mastery given.
Life Mastery gear enhancement with Black Gems does not use the traditional Failstack system. Enhancement Chance is always a set amount no matter how much you fail.

Black Gem Fragment

Black Gem Fragments are used to create Black Gems and then Concentrated Magical Black Gems.

Obtain By Gathering:

Mining
Barehanded Gathering (excludes Golem gathering)
Hoe Gathering
Fluid/Blood Collecting
Tanning (Skinning)
Butchering (Hunting with a Matchlock/Sniper Rifle and then butchering will provide Black Gem Fragments as well.)
Lumbering

NOTE: The rates of fragments from chopping/sapping trees and mining is lower than butchering/bleeding animals or gathering herbs.
