BDO Bartali Sailboat is the Tier 1 ship of the Epheria line of ships. It is considered a beginner Great Ocean ship because it has cannons and rooms for Sailors. (Bartali Sailboat is NOT required to obtain a Tier 2 ship. You can bypass the Bartali Sailboat and obtain a Tier 2 ship other ways. In fact, since the cost of building a T2 ship in Port Epheria were cut in half, I don’t recommend obtaining a T2 ship via upgrading a Bartali Sailboat.)
Bartali Sailboat Upgrade Options:
- Epheria Sailboat (lower cost, better barter/trade stats)
- Epheria Frigate (higher cost, better battle ship stats)
View our Epheria Sailboat vs Frigate Guide.

- Bartali Sailboat upgrade can’t be canceled once started
- Upgrade materials include ship parts that have to be enhanced by you. (Purchased from Falasi)
- Gear for Bartali Sailboat has a 100% Enhancement Chance, so they are easy to upgrade.
How to Upgrade Bartali Sailboat
- Obtain a Bartali Sailboat license and register it at a <Wharf Manager>. (Ex. Croix in Velia)
- Check in the Bartali Sailboat at the <Wharf Manager>
- Select Bartali Boat then “Upgrade Ship” option.
You can bypass the ship upgrade system if you like and build a Tier 2 ship at the Port Epheria shipyard. But this may not suit you, depending on your resources and time.
Bartali Sailboat Upgrade Pros & Cons
There are several advantages and disadvantages to upgrading a Bartali Sailboat to T2 at the Wharf Manager.
- CON: It’s much more expensive to upgrade via the <Wharf Manager> vs building a T2 ship at the Port Epheria shipyard.
- PRO: Bartali Sailboat upgrade is instant as long as you have the materials. (Port Epheria can take days to build 1 ship)
- PRO: No CP spent on Port Epheria workers and buildings

the hardpillar calculation is wrong ! you need a 1000 log & 1000 plywood hardner
Ok! I have updated the guide to reflect 1000 of logs and 1000 plywood hardener. Thanks all for the heads up! 🙂
The calculation is in fact wrong.
I have artisan 3 in processing, and with most things I get 2,5 yield when processing, but with hard pillars, 10 logs and 10 plywood hardener only yields 1 hard pillar.
So the correct amount is 1000 logs and 1000 plywood hardener, unless I’ve been extremely unlucky.
Hes right, yield for Hard pillars is 1.0, not 2.5
https://gyazo.com/85b21abe0d8f201e1c0e598213642bf7 at master 9 processing
I am artisan 7 and each process gives only one hardpillar
Hardpillar is wrong, u need Log x 1000 & 1000 Plywood Hardener.
BDO Dae calculation is wrong, I tested it at Master 5 Processing and only got 1 pillar per 10 Logs/Plywood Hardener.
Hardpillar is capped at 1 per 10 logs/hardeners, BDO dae is not being updated and some recipes are incorrect.
Guru 26 here, Hard pillar proc is 1:1
So you need 500 plywood hardener + 500 log
I’m art 5 and i just made 25 without a single 2x proc, nevermind a 2.5 average. Kind of wasted money considering people list the pillars on market and that’s very economic compared to 10x plywood hardeners for 1.
thank u for updating the guide & as always thanks for these helpfull guides !
hey mate im not sure i was just processing pine coated plywood at mast 23 lvl i didnt even need half of the mats to get all coated plywood at mass proc 64 batches i got 356 avg. i would say you get more nowadays from it seems like i get 5.5 at avg 🙂
I used 24000 coral pieces and 2400 rubies. Only got 3560 Red coral at Processing Art 9. Anyone else have this problem?
So… it takes just as much mats to upgrade as it does to make the license outright?
I think you are saving on time upgrading rather than manufacturing.
Jade Coral Ingot calculation wrong nowadays.
That amount is enough for 3600 piece of colored coral. You will need about double of amount gem and coral piece.
