Barter Tips on Which Sea Goods to Keep
A full [Level 5] Barter Route ends at obtaining Crow Coins. You will have extra barter goods left over, if you do every available trade and the maximum “Exchanges Remaining” allowed.
[Level 1] and [Level 2] Sea Trade Goods can’t be sold. Be careful hoarding too many of these, unless you don’t care about silver loss and just want a higher barter count or barter xp.
More and more Barter Routes open, as your completed Barter count rises. You will start to see trades for items you can use to upgrade ships and ship parts. These items can’t be sold on the Markeplace, so it does no good to collect them, if you can’t use them.
One of the more difficult items you can obtain via Barter are Brilliant mats. Brilliant Rock Salt Ingot and Brilliant Pearl Shard don’t start appearing until 1k barter count. Cost is 500 Crow Coins each.
In your beginning Barter adventures, you will want to complete Ravinia’s 7 day quest line. This will give you half the materials you need to upgrade to a tier 2 ship, Caravel or Galleass.
All Sea Trade goods stack, except for [Level 5]. Ancado Inner Harbor bank is a good place to store [Level 5] extras, because many times [Level 5] to Crow Coin exchanges happen in that area. You can transfer them via Wagon transfer at the <Storage Keeper>, although this can get pricey because of the distance.
Iliya Island Storage
Iliya Island is a great location to store Sea Trade Goods. It’s a central location to the non-Margoria Barter NPC’s. This island gives you 16 free Storage slots, but can be increased by spending Contribution Points on Storage housing. You can also increase Iliya Island storage with real dollars and Pearls.
Iliya Island Contribution (CP) Cost
Note that Lema Island gives Iliya Island storage, even though it’s far away. (to the West of Iliya Island)

- 8 slots: 150 Pearls
At the time of this writing, you can’t buy extra storage slots for Ancado Inner Harbor or Iliya Island with Loyalties.
Port Epheria and Velia storage can be increased with Loyalties (500 Loyalties for 1 slot) or Pearls (150 Pearls for 8 slots)
Maximum allowed storage slots for any location is 192.
You can now buy up to 3 Iliya Island and Ancado Inner Harbor storage slots via Pearls, please correct the article, thanks.
Fantastic Guide. I had a heckuva time figuring out what to hold on to for Fiery and Frosted Black Stones in the game. Nice also to know that my barter is just not high enough yet to find some of the trades I need for my Carrack. Thanks for doing this!
I think it is much better to make Lema as residence than making it as a storage.
agreed, make Lema a residence, but a container in it, and access the Illyia storage from that container in Lema, saves some trips bac to Lema.
You’re not making any sense, put container for what? You can’t transfer Barter Item from Lema Wharf Manager NPC to Illiya Storage. You’re planning to Overweight travel 1 by 1 to the container? I don’t understand.
Do Tears of the ocean ever show up in barter(trade/material/special)? Codex says so, but this guide and others do not confirm this.
Hello 🙂 It is extremely rare and not a reliable way to obtain them. You are better off doing the daily sailing quest on Oquilla’s Eye. More info: https://grumpygreen.cricket/bdo-daily-repeatable-sailing-quests-for-sailing-exp/
