I’m often asked by new players if Jetina PEN Boss Gear is worth the cost of materials.

  • Can’t we simply purchase PEN Boss Gear from the marketplace and save some time and silver? That may be true in certain circumstances, but there are many variables. One of which is the marketplace is subject to variable pricing/supply/demand/availability mechanics.
  • IMHO the major benefit of Jetina PEN Boss Gear is that it bypasses traditional enhancement method which uses RNG.
  • With Jetina PEN Boss Gear, we have the luxury of knowing exactly the mats we need and we can be more exact in the actual enhancement cost because there is not a possibility of failure.

 

My spirit animal must be turtle. Slow and steady wins the race. Sweet predictable pie for me!

Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon Costs

Everything but Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon can be obtained without silver.

The required silver comes from crafting the final Lv 5 reform stone because you need Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon, which costs 50 million silver each, for the Oquilla Crystal quest.

  • 29 billion silver ( for all 4 at PEN )

TOTAL Weapons Cost:

  • 11 billion silver ( for all 3 at PEN )

At the time of this writing, we can see several disadvantages of purchasing a PEN from the marketplace.

  • Low stock
  • Low sales volume

Low stock and sales volume can change with player or dev updates, but it might not be a reliable way to obtain PEN.

Jetina PEN Boss Gear vs Normal Enhancement

PROS of Jetina PEN Boss Gear:

  • No RNG enhancement failures while trying to upgrade gear.
  • Cost of Jetina PEN Boss Gear is more straight forward and easier to calculate.
  • Slow but predictable way to obtain PEN Boss Gear.
  • Time or materials cost can be spread out over time.
  • Each reform level adds AP, DP, etc so you see results right away.
  • You can stop at Reform Level 4 and save billions of silver and still have better gear than normal TET. (You can take advantage of Reform Level 4 gear until you earn enough silver for the final PEN Reform Level 5 Stone.)
  • You don’t have to wait for a lucky PEN result to take advantage of improved gear stats.

CONS of Jetina PEN Boss Gear:

  • Jetina PEN Boss Gear can’t be sold, unless you Caphras it to 10 and upgrade it to Slumbering Origin Armor: Fallen God’s Armor, Dahn’s Gloves, Ator’s Shoes, and Labreska’s Helmet.
  • You may be able to find boss gear cheaper on the marketplace, depending on the number of Jetina Gear you have upgraded to PEN.
  • You may get lucky and get a one tap PEN on normal gear and therefore wasted time and mats on Jetina Gear.
  • You have to attend boss battles, which you may not enjoy.
  • You may have to grind for materials you don’t already have on hand.
  • You may feel impatient since the Jetina quests are limited to once per week and a full gear set will take months.
